Having the ability to think well is a mark of being a good student. The power of reasoning does not come along exactly with intelligence for they are separate entities. Sharp thinking leads to a great mind, when properly nourished and put into good use.
In this article, we will give you some tips on how to develop sharp thinking.
First of all, we have to match our actions with the consequences. We call this applied learning, because we learn by experience. But this can go either good or bad, so what we need to do is to think before we act or speak. Next, daydream. This can help you have a better and deep insight about life and other things we seldom think of. Some people say that this is just a nuisance and a disturbance, but the truth is it’s not. It actually makes our minds more creative and could exceed that of the sharpest mind when done appropriately. Answering thought-provoking questions will also be a great help. Challenge your mind’s limit by testing yourself how far your answers can go and how appropriate and satisfying they are to the given questions. Be innovative. Try to do things your own way and discover different methods on how to accomplish things better. Do not rely on pre-defined ways because sticking to this will only let you be trapped in a box and not being able to find a better and more efficient way of solving problems. Learn to compare different situations to one another. When given with only one option, try to make another one and compare them. In this way, your mind will then seek the better if not the best option among the others.
Words are the roots of confusion and misunderstanding, so carefully choose which one will you use and make sure you will define them in order for you to be clear on what you really mean. Gather different opinions from different people who have varying experiences and try to put yourself on their shoes. Remember that great minds are open to different outlooks and does not think solely for itself. Don’t also forget to take down notes whenever possible, there are some things or details that the mind forgets, so having a hard copy of it would let you remember. And lastly, but the most important of all, always think one step ahead.
